How to get the most from TippyTinyKids videos with your toddler

Songs and rhymes are one of the oldest ways children learn language. The rhythm, rhyme and repetition make new words easy to remember. Videos can help, especially when you watch together. Here’s how we suggest using ours.

Watch together, then switch the screen off

The real learning happens when you sing along, do the actions and talk about what you saw. Watch a song once or twice together, then turn the screen off and sing it again without the video. Your voice is your child’s favorite sound.

Keep it short

The World Health Organization recommends:

  • Under 2 years: no sedentary screen time.
  • Ages 2 to 4: no more than one hour a day, and less is better.

For babies and young toddlers, the best way to enjoy our rhymes is for you to sing them: use the lyrics on our song pages and the actions from the videos. For 2- to 4-year-olds, a couple of songs at a time fits easily, since most of ours are 1 to 5 minutes long.

Do the actions

Many of our songs have built-in movement: clapping in Clap, Bake, Cake, swaying in Ek Mota Hathi, stomping and jumping in the Baby Monkey Song. Moving along helps little ones stay engaged and remember the words.

Use both languages

If your family speaks Hindi and English, use both! Sing Machhli Jal Ki Rani Hai at bath time and the Phonics Song at play time. Our song pages show lyrics in Hindi, Roman script and English so everyone can join in.

Take it off the screen

Every learning song has a free printable to go with it: letter cards, number tracing, a days of the week chart, body flashcards and coloring pages. Browse all free printables.
